Hank Niemerg

Hank is from Illinois and studied at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. There he majored in computer science and minored in mathematics. He will be serving in Lawrence, Massachusetts, as a substitute teacher at Saint Augustine School and assisting with after school activities. Hank is excited to be a part of a new faithful community and to see everything the Boston area has to offer.

How did you develop a passion for service?

I have always seen service as an important part of my Catholic faith and am very happy I’ve been given a chance to serve at this stage in my life.

Share an issue you’re passionate about and explain why.

I am passionate about the battle against ignorance. I believe that if everyone took the opportunity to self-educate themselves about pressing issues and what they believe, there would be less conflicts in the world.

Best moment as an AV to date?

I greatly enjoyed our scavenger hunt throughout the Philadelphia area.

What do you like most about living in your new city so far?

I like the small-town atmosphere that makes the area feel like home.
